Finlandia Trophy Espoo 5.-7.10.2012

Tänä vuonna Finlandia Trophy Espoo -taitoluistelukilpailu luistellaan Espoossa Barona Areenalla.

Mukana on viime vuotiseen tapaan iki-ihanat jäätanssin olympiavoittajat Tessa Virtue - Scott Moir.

Olen niiiin innoissani!

Lippuja voi ostaa Lippupalvelusta! Veikkauksen kanta-asiakaskorttilaisille sekä S-etukorttilaisille löytyy omat edut! Tätä tapahtumaa ei kannata jättää väliin!! Tule nykäisemään hihasta jos minut hallilta bongaat! Näkemisiin!

The international figure skating competition, Finlandia Trophy Espoo, will be held 5-7 October 2012. This well respected competition will be arranged for the 17th time, and since the Finnish Figure Skating Association and the city of Espoo joined forces, the event has been relocated to Barona Areena in Espoo.

Almost 150 competitors from 15 countries guarantee a high level of competition for each category. In addition to the ladies, men, and ice dance, the audience can enjoy synchronized skating, as teams from Finland and Russia arrive to compete with their brand new short programs.

Ice dancers Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, Canadian Olympic Champions and World Champions, won the Finlandia Trophy last year and are eager to launch their international season in Finland again. Finland’s own Kiira Korpi will start her international season in Espoo as well. She will introduce her new programs to the judges and the Finnish audience for the first time. Her competition will be tough, as she will compete against Yulia Lipnitskaya, the talented young junior World Champion from Russia.

One of the most anticipated athletes of Finlandia Trophy Espoo is without a doubt Johnny Weir. The American, 2008 World Championship bronze medalist is making his comeback to competitive skating after two years. To Finland he is bringing also a film crew of the reality television show of his own.

As said earlier for the first time in the history of Finlandia Trophy, the Finnish Figure Skating Association wanted to introduce synchronized skating as a part of the tournament. Finnish top teams Marigold IceUnity and Rockettes, multiple World Champions, as well as Team Unique (World Championships silver medalist 2009) will compete against Team Paradise from Russia in a short program competition. High level international team Revolutions from Finland is also participating.

Why am I writing about this competition? Is there something to do with design? Well, have you seen these pictures from the last year? There you can see for example Finnish fabric brand Vallila in Kiss & Cry corner. Also Luhta´s fashionable clothes were represented. This year we don´t have Vallila but we have four students from Aalto university school of arts, design and architecture who have designed the look of our competition. I can´t wait to show you the Floating Ice theme the students have designed!

I´m also so happy to say that also my favorite cream brand Vitalis is one of the partners of this competition!

Here you can buy tickets and if you cannot come to watch the competition live, stay tuned here!
